About Me.

My name is George Acurero, and I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I started playing soccer at the age of five, like many kids, in a local recreational league. But from the very beginning, something about the game just clicked. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion—and eventually, an obsession.

As I moved through the Utah youth soccer system, my dedication to the sport grew stronger. That dedication opened the door to one of the biggest opportunities of my life: playing for Rot Weiss-Essen’s U19 team in Germany. Competing in the Youth Bundesliga, one of the top youth leagues in the world, was an experience that completely changed the way I saw the game.

While in Germany, I had the privilege of training with the professional team and ultimately made my debut—scoring my first goal at the professional level. Being immersed in that environment, surrounded by top-tier talent and coaching, pushed me to grow both as a player and as a person.

My time in Europe gave me a deeper appreciation for the game and showed me what it truly takes to compete at the highest level. It’s an experience I’ll carry with me forever.
